Security Service Industry Status Quo
Up to now, there are 2659 security service companies around this country, among which 432 specialize in armored escort business and 841 also provide technical protection services.The scope of security services has been further enlarged. While consolidating the traditional business base of protection, patrol and armored escort, services have been extended to such technology-rich areas as technical protection, locksmith services, security check and security consultancy. Some companies even expand to the area of senior citizen and patient care.
Armored escort for the banking sector has grown rapidly. At present, the service is provided in all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the State Council. In all provincial capital cities, armored escort service has gained popular ground. In 2007, the total revenue of all security service companies reached RMB 15.23 billion yuan, with a total EBITA of 1.37 billion yuan. In 2007 alone, security officers across the country provided the public security authorities with 304 thousand crime leads, helped arrest 264 thousand criminal suspects and recovered 4.38 billion yuan worth direct economic losses. The security service companies participated major commercial, entertainment and sport events for 47 thousand times, involving 1.16 million officer-times. These companies participated in the handling of group incidents for 20 thousand times, involving 594 thousand officer-times.
Since 2001, there have been over 280 security officers losing their lives at work and 25 thousand officers injured.
